Once an account holder has added a payment method to at least one merchant account, they can enroll an email address or phone number as their delivery method for email or SMS notifications. Account holders must enroll a delivery method in order to receive notifications.
Notifications are disabled by default. Your users can add or change their notification delivery method and enable or disable notifications at any time.
This section provides information about the different types of CardSwap notifications and instructions for account holders to set up and configure notifications.
Table 1. CardSwap notification types
Notification |
Definition |
---|---|
No active subscription |
The account holder has login credentials for the merchant, but does not have an active subscription. |
The card on file in CardSwap has already been added by another user |
A card is currently in use with an account and can't be added to a second account. NoteThis notification only occurs for Venmo. |
Merchant account verification needed |
The account holder must complete account verification or account security setup before the swap can be finalized. |
Card not accepted |
The account holder can't use the card on file with the merchant for future payments. This notification occurs when several payments are declined in succession. |
Payment cannot be saved to a wallet |
The account holder can't add a new payment method to a wallet because the maximum number of allowed payment methods has been reached. |
Merchant account linked to a 3rd party billing service |
If a payment method for a merchant is on file with a second merchant as the billing service, the account holder can only swap the payment method through the second merchant. For example, if Netflix is configured to use a payment method linked to iTunes, the payment method can't be swapped from Netflix. However, the payment method can be swapped from iTunes, and Netflix will use the new payment method on file with iTunes. |
Invalid Credentials |
The credentials the account holder has entered are not valid. |
Card is expiring |
The account holder's card expires in 5 days. |
Card is expired |
The account holder's card is expired. |
