Customizing a navigation set in Experience Builder (Q2 Config)
Using the options in the Navigation menu, you can customize the navigation items for your UI and create a new navigational element that links to an external site.
Note: The environment must be connected to a database before it can be edited, and some fields that contain logic related to navigation can't be edited. For example, you can view the Page Type and Target Route/URL fields on the Editing page so that you can make logical choices when editing the menu item, but the field cannot be changed.
To edit a navigation set
- Open a draft to edit, then select Navigation > Standard Menu from the side menu.
- On the Main Navigation page, use the Navigation Set field to select which navigation elements you want to change. Only the navigation menu items associated with that navigation set display in Main Navigation - Left Bar.
- (Optional) Use the Show inactive navs field to display all menu items or only the items currently set as active for that environment.
- Select the options () menu to the right of one of the navigation menu items, then select an action from the menu:
- Settings—edits the behavior of the menu item
- Deactivate—removes the menu item from a live environment
- Make Parent—makes the menu item a parent in the hierarchy, with nested, or child, items
- Move to top—moves the menu item to the top of the navigation bar
- Move up—moves the menu item up a level
- Move down—moves the menu item down a level
- Move to bottom—moves the menu item to the bottom of the navigation bar
Note: The first menu item is locked in place. Other menu items cannot be moved before it. - Select a menu item to edit its Name/display text, Icon, or Icon name. Items displayed that are grayed out are included to provide information only.
- Use Advanced Settings to select the menu item's availability or display options.
- When done, Save changes.
You can now follow the Previewing changes workflow to move the draft towards publishing.
