(Optional) Setting up custom tags and triggers in Google Tag Manager
After configuring and connecting the BAO Back Office and Gro Analytics, you are set up to receive a good amount of data from the standard Analytics functionality. However, you can get more granular data by performing the following optional customizations for the tags and triggers to report specific user events.
To create custom tags and use the custom triggers that are designed for BAO, import and edit the BAO triggers container file provided by Q2. This file contains the JSON information that links user events from your BAO site to your Google Analytics view.
Navigate to BAO Custom Settings to obtain your portal URL by selecting Setup > CustomSettings > BAO Custom Settings > Manage. Your portal URL is in the Community Login Link field.
Copy the Workspace ID from the Google Tag Manager account (starts with “GTM-“).
Open a file browser and navigate to the JSON file provided by your Q2 Implementations Engineer.
Use Notepad to open the JSON file and make two changes:
Change the “name” value to reflect the portal URL captured in step 1.
Change the “publicId” value to reflect the Google Tag Manager Workspace ID captured in step 2 (starts with “GTM-“).
Save the JSON file.
From the Workspace page in Google Tag Manager, open the Admin tab, then select Import Container.
Under Select file to import, select Choose container file, then select Existing for the workspace. Finally, select Merge as the import option, and Confirm.
Publish the changes by selecting Submit, then Publish.
(Optional) Add a name and description for your change. Select Continue.
Your triggers are now published.
