(Optional) Create custom tags to name the events to be captured for your organization
In Google Tag Manager, navigate to Workspace > Tags, then select New.
Create the GA4 Configuration tag by selecting the tag icon to open the tag menu, then select Google Analytics: GA4 Configuration.
Add the Measurement ID value for your Google Analytics Account.
Select All Pages as the first trigger, then Save.
Next, create the individual tags that will align to one of the button triggers uploaded from the .json file.
Select the tag icon and choose Google Analytics: GA4 Event:
Select GA4 – Configuration Tag from the Configuration Tag field, then enter an Event Name of your choosing to describe which button event you want to track.
Expand Event Parameters, then select Add Row.
- Use the same Event Name value as above within the Parameter Name field, then select Click Text for the Value field.
Next, scroll down to the Trigger section:
- Choose any one of the triggers that corresponds to the Event Name just created. Select Save.
On the top left side of the screen, select the menu option to toggle back to the Google Analytics Account, and select the your BAO analytics account.
Select the BAO property you previously created.
Expand the left navigation tab and select Configure.
Select Custom definitions, then select Create custom dimensions.
Enter a Dimension name (should match or correspond to the Event Name created).
Select Event in the Scope field.
Select the Event Parameter value that was created in the corresponding tag.
Select Save.
